Welcome to the Mill Cottage experience

If you know South Devon you’ll know the South Hams district, but the chances are that you won’t know the tiny hamlet of Tuckenhay, one of Devon’s best kept secrets.

Tuckenhay is an idyllic base from which you can either sit back and contemplate life or grasp the opportunity and enjoy its many activity features – walking, bird watching, exploring by boat, canoeing and pony trekking to name but a few.

Only three miles from Totnes and located in the lush valley of Bow Creek which ebbs and flows to the tune of the mighty Dart some three miles downstream, Tuckenhay has produced some of Britain’s finest paper in bygone days – in the form of Bank of England notes – and, more recently, TV chef Keith Floyd practised his unequivocal skills at the Maltsters Arms pub and restaurant.

The boats which used to deliver and collect their cargoes to and from the cider press and the paper mill – now both converted into luxurious apartments – have given way to yachts, motor launches and canoes exploring the densely wooded inlets or simply visiting to sample the unique Tuckenhay experience.

Everything in Tuckenhay is within walking distance of Mill Cottage, designed and renovated to reflect ‘olde worlde’ charm with absolutely all mod cons.

Come and enjoy this unique experience.

‘The cottage is idyllic and Tuckenhay so relaxing.'
